Day Five

Day five has been the BEST! Basically:

6:00 am wake up and banana tofu smoothie
6:30 am yoga
7:35 am breakfast (rice pudding with blueberry sauce!) and cottage cheese, and nasty vegan cheese for Michelle that she didn't eat, it was sick. Vegan cheese is disgusting.

8:30 am Headed out for the hike!

9:00-2:00 Ridiculous euphoric amazing hike. Best hike of the trip so far. See below:

Our lunch on hike:

3:00-5:00 pm Self-care lecture with JP. WE LOVE JP!!!

5:00 pm- Dinner. Grain pilaf with carrots that tasted like Thanksgiving dinner. Cold green bean salad with dill and beets.

We sure have eaten a lot of beets this week.

7:00 pm- (drumroll please...)

West African Dance lessons! We are now officially obsessed with West African dance. Anyone want to take lessons with us in Nashville?

I did give and inspiration speech about the healthy dinner play to about 60 inner-city kids and their parents tonight...that was an adventure!

Uh, that beef salad looks so good! Doesn't seem like they are starving you too bad. Tonight I cooked chilly for the first time in my life I think. It was actually pretty good. So you think you can teach me the dance. Looks like fun. Hey I actually went to the gym tonight! Only two more days! See you on Saturday!

Rebekka's meals look great! Hope your knees are feeling better Michelle. I'll pass on the West African dance but your mom will do it. I have to say I am very happy with the outcome of the election. I really feel we have the best man our country has had since JFK.

Hi Michelle & Rebekkah! Mom here.. Somehow your original email with the blog link never made it to my account so I'm using the one your dad aleady set up. I feel so bad that I haven't commented until now, to any of your posts. Rebekkah could quit her day job as chef, baker, PT nanny,etc... and start a new career as a writer! Rebekkah, your posts are hilarious! You really have a writing talent. Anyway, M, I gasped when I saw you lying in bed with ice packs on your knees. I hope you are doing okay. And I am very concerned with Rebekkah's light headedness and nausea; are you sure she isn't pregnant? I am so proud of you girls for doing this and sticking to it. The pictures of the hikes look amazing and the menu sounds interesting....humm.... You both must have lost 10 pounds by now! M - next time we'll have to send your dad...if there is a next time! I hope Teddy & Owen are faring well without you. I can imagine that they both miss you terribly by now, and I'm sure R's hubby misses her too. I hope you both aren't too tired to drie the 5hours back home. It's now count down until Thanksgiving and we are getting very excited to see you all! The house is still under remodel and I'm trying not to panic, but it will all come together at the last minute before the big day. Next weekend is Ellen's B-day and she will make her usual visit to Sedona so i can cook her a special dinner. She's already invited herself to Thanksgiving - so 2 weekends in a row with her will try all our patience - HA!
I hope you enjoy the rest of your adventure in NC and wish you a safe trip home.
Love,
Mom
PS - the African dancing sounds interesting....

i was thinking this morning (because i am working on a seminar about retraining tastebuds and the idea that you can)...it's interesting how the first few days were so rough, bekks, and now you seem to be into it. so, you CAN exist on 1200 calories, you CAN hike an insane amount, you CAN be away from the city (but preferably with your husband), you CAN wear comfy clothing all the time....and so on. the question then becomes, do you want to? after this experience, will you want to be more physical, eat less, etc? i'm just curious to know....there was a time in my life when i was addicted to the way it felt to eat a tiny bit and exercise a lot...so i understand the high that comes from it....i'm just choosing not to do it now. anyway, random thoughts. love ya! hope today is great.
